A learning path is simply an ordered list of skills you will build, one step at a time, toward a goal you can describe in a sentence. Start by writing that goal in plain language, such as helping a small business run its social media or keeping a service company's books in order. Then list the three or four skills that goal really needs, and arrange them from the most basic to the most advanced, because each step should make the next one easier. Resist the urge to learn everything at once; a path with too many branches usually ends in a half-finished pile of courses and notes. Give each step a small, concrete outcome you can show, like a sample post, a tidy spreadsheet, or a short written summary, so you can tell when you are ready to move on. Set a gentle pace you can keep for weeks rather than a sprint you abandon in days. Review the path every couple of weeks and adjust it as you learn what the work actually involves. A simple path you finish beats an ambitious one you never complete.
